How do you remove powder coating? It’s a commonly asked question, so we wanted to address this in our latest blog article.
Because of how it bonds its respective surface, powder coating can be stubborn to remove. However, if you’ve had a change of heart on the colour you’re after, the Red Box Paint and Powder Team can help with the removal with our Shot Blasting capabilities.
What is shot blasting?
Shot Blasting is the process of firing an abrasive, bead like material with force against a surface to either remove oxides, coatings or any other debris and the process can be complete on parts big or small in scale. It is a lot more manageable to use compared to other blasting techniques such as sand or grit blasting, as it produces far less dust, preventing any inhalation risks.
Once complete, the item is then re-washed in our metal wash bay, ready for reapplication. It’s as simple as that.
